Running Back Tips For Coaches

If you are looking for a few good running back tips you have come to the right place.  These tips are going to help you create great running backs as long as they are followed through with and practiced on a regular basis.  Keep in mind that there are a lot of different tips that can be given.  However, this article is only going to cover a few of the tips that should be practiced before the big game.

The first tip that can be followed is going to teach your running back how to catch a handoff and hold the ball properly.  You are going to line up your running backs in two separate lines. You are going to have each person in the line practice handing the ball off to the person in the line in front of him.  You will want to move the ball down the line in this manner until it reaches the end.  As a coach, you are going to want to keep an eye on the arms of the players.  You are going to want to make sure that the inside arm is up and the elbow of the player is not in the way.  You will also want to be sure that the other arm is holding the bottom of the ball so that it is not dropped.

The next running back tips are going to require that your player move a little bit more.  You are going to have him practice receiving the ball.  He is then going to be required to run up the field and make his way through two different dummies that you have lined up.  This is going to help learn to hold the ball and run with it.  It is important for them to learn to be able to control and ball and keep a hold of it when they are being hit.  As a coach, you are going to need to be sure that your running back is down low and has a center of gravity.

As you are practicing all running back tips you need to be sure that your player is positioned correctly and has a good handle on the ball.  You want to make sure that you are always checking their hand positions and that you are making sure that their stance is correct.  You do not want your players to continually practice something incorrectly.  This is only going to create bad habits that are going to be harder to break in the long run.

Other running back tips that should be followed include leg exercises and eating properly.  You want to be sure that your running backs are healthy and able to follow through on quick movements without hurting themselves.  They are going to need a lot of leg muscle that will help them carry out all of their plays with speed and precision.  You want your players to understand the importance of being healthy in order to avoid injury.  It is best to help them learn safety rather than encouraging them to do whatever it takes to win the game.  This is often difficult to remember when you want to have a good team. However, you need to remember that you are often talking about kids that look to you for support and guidance.  Therefore, be smart and teach them how to be a good player the correct way.

Running back tips should be followed at every practice.  These are going to help your players become strong and have an understanding of how to control the ball.  Practice makes perfect no matter what you are learning.  It is important to make sure that form and positioning is accurate and practice these things often.  The drills will eventually become easier as long as they are carried out correctly.
